I first interviewed Lesley Risinger in her small, windowless office in Seton Hall School of Law. Around her were papers and folders and shoeboxes of papers sent to her by New Jersey prisoners over the last couple of years. She’s made it her mission to help to free New Jersey’s wrongfully-convicted. Her work and her fascinating personal story were the subject of my piece for New Jersey Monthly Magazine.

Check out this amazingly beautiful New York Times blog by Maira Kalman. If you scroll down to her bio at the bottom of the post, you’ll see that she did the illustrations for a revised version of Strunk and White’s Elements of Style. It’s exciting to see talented artists of all stripes take their work online and apply them to the different online forms, in this case a blog.
The New York Times has started a community blog in my town. I’m going to be contributing over the summer once the semester ends. Here’s my first post LINK.
For all you bloggers out there, here’s a story that ran in The New York Times SundayStyles section that will warm the cockles of your hearts. It’s a touching story of how a blogger was wooed by and ended up marrying a frequent commenter on her blog.
I just came across the 2008 Weblog Awards. It’s worth investigating. There are awards in 48 categories, including Best Comic Strip, Best Humor Blog, Best Technology Blog and Best Blog, which Andrew Sullivan won with Daily Dish. I really liked the The Daily Dose of Imagery blog which didn’t win but was a contender in the Best Photography Blog category. He posts one image a day. It’s a nice manageable premise. And some of the images are gorgeous.
